Biography and career
Born and raised in New York, in the family of a father, a pharmacist, and a mother-school lawyer. It is of Jewish origin. [3] [4] He attended High School. Roosevelt in Yonkers , then studied at Yale University in the Faculty of Drama .
He made his debut in 1974 on television, starred in many television series, and also appeared in the psychological drama “ Who Will Stop The Rain ” in 1978. A breakthrough for the actor was his role in the film “ Hanover Street ” in 1979, despite the fact that he was nominated for The Stinkers Bad Movie Award as "Worst Actor."
In 1982, he played the role of dog handler Clark in John Carpenter 's horror film " Something ." He was a resounding success and Mazur still comes to the fan meeting dedicated to the film.
The negative role in the crime drama "Flaming Bed" brought the actor a nomination for an Emmy Award in 1984.
In 1990, starred in a minor role in the film " It ", based on the novel by Stephen King . However, his character, Stanley Uris, spent a very short time on the screen.
In 1995, he was appointed President of the United States Film Actors Guild . He held this post for two consecutive terms and resigned from him in 1999.
In June 2015, appeared on the cover of the 48th issue of the American magazine Shock Cinema .
Personal life
The first wife is producer Fredd Weiss, whom he married in 1976 and divorced in 2004 after 28 years of marriage. In the same 2004 he married Eileen Henry.
