Performance and Creativity Assessments of S. I. Fedorov
Architect, doctor of art history, professor of the Moscow Architectural Institute , laureate of the USSR State Prize Savarenskaya T. F .:
S. I. Fedorov <...> was aimed at restoring the destroyed cities: Kursk, Orel and Belgorod. He was one of the leading architects who restored this region from ruins and conflagrations. On his labor account - dozens of residential buildings, hospitals, schools and public buildings, projects of entire urban centers, cities and towns. S. I. Fedorov combined active creative and organizational activities with extensive scientific research concerning the history of the region being reconstructed, the result of which was his dissertation “Planning and development of urban public centers of Orel, Kursk, Belgorod”, for which he was awarded the degree of candidate of art history, and several books dedicated to these same cities. [five]
Sergei Ivanovich Fedorov is known as the creator of a number of interesting books on the cultural heritage of the Oryol and Kursk lands, which he defended during the Great Patriotic War. S. I. Fedorov devoted more than three years to the study and popularization of previously almost unexplored monuments of suburban manor architecture in central Russia. He performed surveys in kind, exchanges, sketches, drawings, photographs, surveys of old-timers and conducted many years of research work in the central and local state archives, museums and libraries to identify and study documentary materials on the origin and development of Maryino manor ensembles and villages Ivanovsky <...> of the princes Baryatinsky, who defended for many centuries the interests of Russia in the battlefields and in the diplomatic fields and who made a great contribution to the development of Russian culture. [6]
Honored Architect of the RSFSR Teplitsky M. L .:
Sergey was tall, well-built, with a distinct personality, interesting in conversation, although he somehow kept aloof <...> For some reason, he did not participate in city and regional competitions. <...> Sergei Ivanovich studied in absentia at the Moscow Institute of Architecture and Postgraduate Studies at the Department of History and Theory of Architecture and, having successfully defended his dissertation, became a candidate of art history. His further creative life showed that he was more a theorist than a practitioner [7] .
