Biography

Born in the Jewish agricultural colony of Kapreshty in Bessarabia, which in the prewar years was part of Romania. During World War II, he lost his father, who died at the front, and he was evacuated to the east with the rest of the family. After the end of the war he returned to Moldova .

He started playing football in Chisinau Dynamo with coach Ivan Mikhailovich Khovzhun, and subsequently worked with this coach in adult teams. Already in 1954 he played in the Dynamo at the adult level in the championship of the Moldavian SSR . Later he entered the Chisinau Agricultural Institute (CFI) and in 1955 began to play for his team, this season he won silver medals of the republic’s championship and won the Moldavian SSR Cup. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanization of the Chisinau Agricultural Institute.

In 1956 he was invited to the republic’s main team - the Chisinau Petrel (later renamed Moldova, now Zimbru). The debut match in the major league was played on May 7, 1956 in Moscow against the local Torpedo , in which the Chisinau team sensationally won 4: 1 [1] . The main player of the team did not manage to become, having played only six matches in the major league in three seasons.

In 1959-1960 he played in class “B” for Bendery “Locomotive ” and Chisinau “ Vierul ”. Since 1961, he decided to end his career at the level of craftsmen’s teams and got a job at the Chisinau Tractor Plant , began to play for his team in the championship of the republic. In 1964, he won silver medals in the championship of the MSSR, and in 1965 and 1967 became the owner of the Republic Cup, participated in matches of the USSR Cup among KFK .

At the end of his sports career, he worked at Moldavgidromash, and was also a children's football coach. In 1991, repatriated to Israel .

Family

Brother Alexander was also an athlete, engaged in wrestling.
