Lean on

“ Lean On ” is the song of the American band Major Lazer together with French producer DJ Snake with the participation of Danish singer Karen Marie Oersted (MØ) , released on March 2, 2015 via Mad Decent, Because (in Europe) and Warner (in Australia) the first single from the 3rd studio album Peace Is the Mission [5] . The single received platinum status in the USA , Great Britain, Australia, Italy and other countries [6] . According to IFPI , “Lean On” became the fifth most successful single of 2015 worldwide and one of the best sellers of all time [7] with a global circulation of 13.1 million [8] .

History

The music contains the genre of Danshall [1] [2] and Dance Music [4] . The music video was directed by Tim Erem [9] and was shot in India (ND Studios, Karjat, Kaul Heritage City, Vasai Maharashtra). Some scenes were shot in Stockholm [10] [11] .

The video shows mainly the national dances of India. The main role was played by MØ. The girl throughout the video sings and dances with Indian dancers. Periodically, the video shows the dancing producers of the Major Lazer project: Diplo, Snake, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire [12] . Dancing takes place in Indian palaces, on their outdoor areas and stairs, near them and on the roof of a bus that passes by poor residential neighborhoods. Also in the clip, MØ bathes in a pool with rose petals and sings while sitting on a luxurious bed in the palace [12] .

By March 2015, videos were watched more than 1.80 billion times on the YouTube channel - this is the 10th result among all videos , and by April 2018 it exceeded 2.3 billion views [13] .
