Praying for Time describes a dark and gloomy reflection of social ills and injustice. For example, James Hunter from Rolling Stone magazine described the song as “a distraught look at the amazing vulnerability in the world. Michael offers healing over time as the only balm for alleviating physical and emotional hunger, poverty, hypocrisy, and hatred. ” [1] The single became No. 1 solo hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and the 9th charttopper in George Michael’s career (taking into account achievements in the Wham !, and taking into account the duet I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) ”with American singer Aretha Franklin ). This is his penultimate charttopper (there will be another No. 1 hit later - the duet “ Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me ” with Elton John). The single reached position number 6 in the UK, and in the United States (where it was number 1), it remained in the top 40 for Billboard for 40 weeks [2] .
