Alexiy (Eliseev)

From 1976 to 1986 he studied in high school. He entered the agronomical faculty of the I. Michurin Fruit and Vegetable Institute in the city of Michurinsk, Tambov region, which he graduated in 1990 ^[1] .

From 1990 to 1995, he worked in state and commercial structures as the chief agronomist and leading specialist of the district agricultural administration ^[1] , heading a selection farm of several thousand hectares ^[2] .

In the mid-1990s, he came to Valaam to help monks revive the monastic garden. He accepted baptism and decided to stay here. ^[3] In 1996, he was enrolled in the brotherhood of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Valaam monastery and appointed to obey the agronomist of the monastery ^[1] and engaged in the revival of the once famous Valaam monastic gardens ^[2] . “Finally, the gardens were given to us in 1996 in a very neglected form. I remember that spring. In two months we took about twenty tractor trash carts from the Lower Garden and fifteen from the Upper! You can imagine what the gardens looked like ... I just don’t say about the condition of the trees: often broken, sick, completely in tree weeds, in hollows ” ^[4] . Thanks in large part to his efforts, the northernmost monastic gardens of Russia came to life ^[3] .

In 2000, Archimandrite Pankraty (Zherdev) was tonsured into a robe with the name Alexis in honor of St. Alexy, Metropolitan of Moscow ^[5] .

In October 2000, he was appointed the kelarem of the monastery with the combination of the obedience of an agronomist ^[1] .

In February 2003, he was transferred to the St. Petersburg compound of the Valaam Monastery with the appointment of an obedient assistant abbot of the Valaam Monastery on land management and property matters ^[1] . He served the sacristy ^[6] and then the Dean ^[7] . In parallel with the main obedience, he was engaged in the organization of youth Christian camps " Syndesmos " ^[5] .

In 2009 he graduated from the Kostroma Theological Seminary , having defended his thesis on the topic “Questions of the history of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Valaam Monastery from 1900 to 1940.”

On April 7, 2010, Bishop of Trinity Pankratia (Zherdev) was ordained Hieromonk ^[5] .

On June 30, 2010, by decree of Patriarch Cyril, he was sent to the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem to serve at the Holy Trinity Monastery of the Holy Ancestors Abraham and Sarah in Hebron ^[1] , which he sought to transform into a full-fledged monastery: capacity of the building and the site, at least eight to twelve, a maximum of fifteen to twenty people. On December 27, 2016, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was elected Bishop of Galich and Makarievsky ^[11] .
