Peong Baekhyun ( cor. 변 백현 , English Byun Baek-hyun , born May 6, 1992 , Bucheon , Gyeonggi-do , South Korea ) is a South Korean singer and actor . He is a member of the hip-hop group EXO , and its subgroups EXO-K and divisions EXO-CBX .

Content
early years
Paekhyun was born on May 6, 1992 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, Republic of Korea. He has a brother named Peon Bekpen, who is 7 years older. The future star began to train at the age of 11, under the impression of the singer Rain. Paekhyun studied at Jungwon High School in Bucheon, where he was the lead singer in the school band Honsusangtae and also won the local music competition . He attended piano lessons of DickPunks rock band member Kim Hyun W. In addition to music, he was fond of martial arts. Paekhyun has a black belt in Hapkido [ clarify ] .
While preparing for the entrance exam at Seoul Institute of the Arts, Paekhyun was spotted by SM Entertainment . Later, in 2011, Paekhyun went to an agency through the SM Casting System. Along with other members of ECHO, Chhanol and Suho, Paekhyun attended Kyung Hee Cyber University, and also took online classes on Culture and Arts Department of Business Administration.
Career
2012—2015: Debut and Early Career
Officially Paekhyun joined the group on January 30, 2012. The group itself debuted on April 8, 2012.
In February 2014, Paekhyun and Suho became permanent presenters on the television show Inkigayo, which was broadcast on the SBS cable channel. In November 2014, they left the show and concentrated with the rest of the band on comeback. In July of the same year, Paekhyun made his musical theatrical debut, receiving a leading role in the musical “Singing in the Rain” by the South Korean agency SM C & C.
In April 2015, Paekhyun plays the “Beautiful” soundtrack for the “EXO Neighborhood” web drama. The song took the lead in the charts. In May 2015, it was announced that Paekhyun would play a major role in the film “ Dokgo” with actor Ye Jin Guo. However, the shooting of the film was suspended and rescheduled for January of the same year. In December 2015, Paekhyun paid tribute to the late singer Kim Hyun Sik by performing the song “Like Rain Like Music” on the GayoDaejeon show, which was broadcast on the SBS channel. A recording studio later released a song in digital form.
2016-2018: Acting Roles and EXO-CBX
In January 2016, Paekhyun and Suzy from Miss A made their debut with the song “Dream”. The song quickly reached a high position in the charts, and later a performance on Gaon 's weekly digital chart was organized. “Dream” took the first places five times on the music programs of the Music Bank and Inkigayo . In April of the same year, Paekhyun received the YinYueTai V-Chart award as the most famous singer in South Korea. In May, Paekhyun and K.Wi made their debut as a duet, performing the ballad “The Day”.
In August, Paekhyun played in the drama "Scarlet Hearts: Koryo" (South Korean adaptation of the Chinese novel " Bu Bu Jing Xin "). Paekhyun received a minor role by playing Prince Wang Yong, along with such actors as: Li Jun Ki, Kang Ha Nul , Li Zhi Yong and singer Seohyun. He also performed the soundtrack for the drama along with Ch'hen and Siumin , titled "For You".
In October 2016, he, Chen, and Siumin became official members of the EXO-CBX subgroup. Their debut with the song “ Hey Mama! "Was carried out on October 31. In November of the same year, Paekhyun took part in the 2016 SM Super Celeb League tournament of the League of Legends , where he played with Hitchhol two professional players, as well as fans from Korea and China.
In February 2017, Baekhyun and a member of the group Sistar So released the joint song “Rain”. The song reached number one on every South Korean online charts, an achievement known as “all-kill”, making it the first SM Entertainment artist to reach all-kill in 2016 and 2017 with Dream and Rain. In April 2017, Baekhyun released a single titled “Take You Home” for the second season of the Station project. The song reached the 12th place on the Gaon digital chart. In August 2018, Baekhyun and rapper Loco released a joint track called “Young” for the Station project.
2019-present: Solo debut
On June 10, 2019, it was announced that Baekhen made his debut as a solo artist in July 2019, becoming the third member of EXO who received a solo. July 10, he debuted with a mini-album City Lights .
Personal life
On June 19, 2014, SM Entertainment confirmed the relationship between Paekhyun and Thaeyeong (member of Girls Generation ). However, in September 2015, reporters reported that they had diverged.
