Sanche , Sancho ( Sancho, Sanç, Sanche ; c. 1160 - 1223 ) - Count Cerdany (c. 1175 - 1189), Provence (1181-1185), Zhevodan and Rodez (1183-1185), Roussillon (1208-1212). Regent of Provence (1209-1218) and Aragon (1214-1218).

The youngest son of Queen Petronila of Aragon and her husband Ramon Berengar IV of Barcelona .
At the time of his father's death (1162), he was still a child and did not inherit any lands and titles.
Between 1175 and 1180, he was given control of Cerdan, after the death of his brother, Berengar III , Provence (1181). Last mentioned as Count of Cerdany in 1188.
In 1183, King Alphonse II of Aragon , brother of Sancho, handed him the county of Zhevodan, Rodez and Karl as a county.
In 1185, Sancho entered into an alliance with the counts of Toulouse and Forkalkier and the Republic of Genoa - enemies of Aragon. For this, Alphonse II took all his possessions from him, except Cerdany. However, Sancho continued to call himself Count of Provence.
In 1208, the Aragonese king Pedro II (son of Alphonse II) handed over to his uncle the county of Roussillon , which he ruled until 1212.
In 1209, Sancho's other nephew, Count of Provence Alfons II , died , leaving his young son . King Pedro II appointed Sancho his guardian as governor of Provence.
In 1212, Pedro II transferred Roussillon (as well as Cerdan and Conflans) to Nuno, the son of Sancho.
In 1213, Pedro II died at the Battle of Muir . His young son Jaime I was captured. Sancho took an active part in the liberation of the young king, and at the end of 1214 or the beginning of 1215 he was appointed regent (procurator general) of Aragon.
In 1216-1218 he supported Raimund of Toulouse in his attempts to restore power in Toulouse county. Fearing papal excommunication, he resigned as regent of Aragon and Provence. In exchange, he received from Jaime Aragonsky a pension of 25 thousand solid annually.
Sancho was married twice:
- the first wife is Ermessenda, daughter of Gottfried I Rockaberty.
- second wife (1185) - Sancha Nunez de Lara, daughter of Count Nuno Perez de Lara, stepdaughter of King Leon Ferdinand II . From her son is Nunio Sanchez .
