The Canadian Curling Championship for Men 2005 ( English 2005 Tim Hortons Brier ) was held in Edmonton ( Alberta ) from March 5 to 13, 2005 . [1] The tournament was held for the 76th time. In Alberta, the championship was held for the 11th time, in Emonton - for the 5th time.

The winner received the right to represent Canada (as the “team of Canada”; English Team Canada ) at the 2005 World Championships , which was held in April 2005 in Victoria ( British Columbia , Canada ).
The tournament was attended by 12 teams representing the provinces and territories of Canada .
The champion (the 22nd time in the history of the championships) was the team representing the province of Alberta (for the team of the skip Randy Ferby this was the 4th victory), having won in the finals the team representing the province of Nova Scotia (skip Shawn Adams).
The name of the championship has been changed in accordance with the name of the new title sponsor of the championship - Tim Hortons Inc. [2]
Content
Competition Format
At the first, group stage, the teams play among themselves in a circular system in one circle. The four best teams of the group stage go to the second stage, playoffs , where they play according to the Page system : the two best teams according to the results of the group round hold a match for a direct hit in the finals (playoffs-1). The 3rd and 4th teams play for reaching the semifinals (playoffs-2). In the semifinals, there is a loser in the first match and a winner in the second. In the finals, gold awards are disputed by the winners of the playoffs and semifinals. Match for 3rd place is not held.
