Season 1

The series tells the story of Archie Andrews and his friends living in the small and safe town of Riverdale. After the unexpected murder of young Jason Blossom, the guys begin to delve into the gloomy secrets of a city that will never be safe.

Season 2

A serial Black Man’s hood appeared in Riverdale, the goal of which is to cleanse the city of sinners. For the guys, this business is already personal in nature, and they want to unravel his personality. In parallel with this, Hyrum Lodge returns to the city, which has its own plans for this city.

Season 3

The graduation year begins, which Archie Andrews may not get because of the murder charges and subsequent imprisonment. But not only he is restless, a strange creature “King of the Gargoyles” appears in Riverdale, spreading its deadly game called “Griffins and Gargoyles” and wanting to enslave everyone who comes across. Meanwhile, Jughead's mom arrives in the city, who has her views of Riverdale.

• Archibald (Archie) Andrews is a high school student who writes music and plays the guitar, contrary to his father and football coach ^[8] . Veronica's ex-boyfriend, but the couple reunite at the end of season 3.
• Elizabeth (Betty) Cooper is a smart and sweet girl who has long been in love with her best friend Archie. She began to communicate with Veronica, as she was tired of being an ideal daughter, student and sister. Meets with Jughead ^[9] .
• Veronica Lodge is a smart, confident high school student who returns to Riverdale from New York City, trying to start a new life after the scandal surrounding her father ^[10] . Archie's ex-girlfriend, but the couple reunites at the end of season 3.
• Forsyth Pandelton (Jughead) Jones III is Archie's best friend, the new head of the South Side Snake gang, Batty's boyfriend. He is a writer.
• Hermione Lodge is Veronica's mother, wife of Hyrom, the new mayor of Riverdale. ^[11] .
• Cheryl Blossom , a wealthy manipulator girl who lost her twin brother in a mysterious disaster, meets Tony ^[12] .
• Josie McCoy - an arrogant and ambitious girl who is a soloist of the musical group "Josie and the cats" ^[8] , met with Archie. In season 3, she left Riverdale.
• Alice Cooper is Betty's mother, editor of a local newspaper. She is a perfectionist who puts too high expectations on her daughter ^[13] . In the third season, she got into a sect called "Farm".
• Frederick (Fred) Andrews is Archie's father, who owns a construction company. It is hoped that the son will one day take over the family business ^[14] .
• Kevin Keller is a popular high school student. Betty Cooper's best friend. Outdoor gay ^{[15] [16]}
• Forsyth Pandleton (JP) Jones II is the former head of the South Side Serpent crime gang of motorcyclists who live and work in southern Riverdale. Now the new Riverdale Sheriff. Jaghead's father and Jellybin, Gladys' husband. ^{[17] [18]} .
• Hyrom Lodge - Veronica's father, husband of Hermione Lodge. Powerful man and owner of Lodge Industries. He spent five months in prison and then returned to his family. First appeared in 1 episode 2 of the season.
• Reggie Mantla ^[19] is Archie’s longtime friend and urban joker. ^[20] After one season, Ross Butler left the show due to workload in other projects. In subsequent seasons, another actor will play the role of Reggie. He met Veronica, but the couple broke up. ^[21] .
• Antoinette “Tony” Topaz is a student of Southside High and a member of kites in Southside, a student of the Riverdale school, a friend of Jughead, a girl Cheryl Blossom.

• Sierra McCoy is the former mayor of Riverdale and mother is Josie McCoy. ^[23] Tom's new wife.
• Waldo Weatherby is the director of the Riverdale School.
• Ethel Maggs - in the comics she was in love with Jughead, but in the television series she will find another love. Team with Veronica and Betty in revenge on Chuck, who defiled the names of many girls with friends football players ^[24] .
• Polly Cooper is Betty's older sister, daughter of Alice and Hal Cooper. I met with Jason Blossom, gave birth to twins from him.

• Charles Smith is an FBI agent investigating a farm case by introducing his mother, Alice, into it. The real brother of Betty and Polly, half-brother of Jughead.

• Dilton Doyley is a student at Riverdale School and the leader of the Scout squad. ^[17] . Initially, Daniel Young was approved for the role of Dilton ^[20] .

• Oscar is a successful songwriter from New York who agrees to work at Riverdale College as a professor (episode 5). ^[26]
• Mary Andrews is Archie's mother, who abandoned him 2 years ago to “follow her dreams,” but returns to Riverdale when her family needs her. She not only reunites with Archie and her husband Fred, but also with former school friends, Hermione and Alice (10, 11 episodes) ^[27] .
• Joseph (Conway) Swanson is a janitor at Riverdale High School. He was a dummy Black Hood.
• Nick St. Clair is a friend of Veronica Lodge from New York.
• Ben Button is Dilton Doyle's friend.
• Wardon Norton is a caretaker in the colony Archie ended up in.
• Miss Wright - the prosecutor whose fault Archie got into the colony.

Initially, the television series was supposed to go on the FOX channel in 2014 ^[29] . Later, the television channel abandoned this venture. In 2015, the television series moved to The CW , which officially ordered the pilot episode on January 29, 2015. Filming of the pilot began on March 14, 2015 and ended on April 1 ^[30] . The production of the remaining 12 episodes of the first season began on September 7 in Vancouver ^[31] .

On March 7, 2017, The CW channel extended the television series for the second season ^[3] , the filming of which should begin in mid-June 2017 ^[32] . The series was also extended for season 4.

On April 25, 2017, it was announced that Marc Consuelos would appear in the second season of the television series in the role of Veronica Lodge's father, Hyrom Lodge ^[33] . On May 12, 2017, Charles Melton was selected for the role of Reggie in the second season. Ross Butler left the television series due to filming in the series 13 Reasons Why ^[19] . On the same day, it was announced that in the second season, actor Casey Cott will play on a regular basis ^[34] .

On April 2, 2018, the series was extended for the third season. Screenwriters claim that this season, viewers will learn more about the Jughead family and Hyrom’s secret plans.

The television series received generally positive reviews from film critics. On the Rotten Tomatoes website , the film is rated 89% based on 50 reviews with an average rating of 7.3 out of 10 ^[35] . On the Metacritic website , the film has a rating of 68 out of 100 based on 36 reviews from critics, which corresponds to the status of “generally positive reviews” ^[36] .
