Biography
Hasan Hadi Garabagi (Hasan bey Rzagulu bey oglu Alibekov) was born in 1835 in the city of Shusha. He received his primary education from the then-famous Mirza Karim-bek Haji Muhammed-bek oglu.
Having received a religious education, Hasan-bek from early childhood grew up in an environment where an atmosphere of religiosity and conservatism reigned. Engaged in trade. A small shop was located on the city market and the village of Karyagin (now Fizuli).
From his youth, Hasan-bek was fond of poetry, later he was considered one of the regulars of the literary circle of the Mejlisi-Faramushan led by Mir Mohsun Navvab.
Hasan-bek Garabagi wrote poetry under the pseudonym Hadi. His artistic heritage consists mainly of gazelles, as well as epigrams and libels written in the classical style.
Hasan-bek Hadi was considered an authoritative religious figure. He was also known for conflicting with the editor of the Ekinchi newspaper, Hasan-bey Zardabi. The newspaper published anti-religious content in which the clergy ridiculed. Hasan Hadi has devoted more than one critical article to the editorial office. The most sensational publication of his was the libel in response to an article in Ekinchi about the Ashura ceremony. This poem then spread throughout Azerbaijan and caused a mixed reaction in society. For this publication, he was sharply criticized by Mirza Fatali Akhundov and Seyid Azim Shirvani.
Hasan-bek Hadi died in 1900 and was buried in Barda at Imamzadeh cemetery.
