History

In written sources dated 1392 , on the site of the present castle, a wooden fortress was mentioned that belonged to Hasek from Lan. At the end of the XVI century , the village that existed here passed into the possession of King Rudolph II , who rebuilt the fortress into a summer hunting castle in the Renaissance style . In 1652, the castle was rebuilt in the Baroque architectural style .

At the end of the XVII century, the castle passed into the possession of the count family Waldstein . In 1730, Jan Josef from Waldstein carried out an extensive reconstruction, as a result of which Lansky Castle was noticeably rebuilt and enlarged by one floor. At the beginning of the XVIII century, the castle passed into the possession of the princely family of Fürstenberg , in whose ownership remained until 1921. In 1748-1752, the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus in the Rococo style was added to the castle, connected to the castle by a passage. In 1821-1825 the castle was again rebuilt by Prince Charles Egon II zu Fürstenberg , as a result of which the third floor of the castle was built on and an entrance was built on the north side. The last floor was built in the attic roof of the castle in 1903 at the direction of Prince Maximilian Egon II zu Fürstenberg . A new entrance was also added on the south side of the castle.

In 1921, the castle was bought for 25 million crowns by the Czechoslovak government and rebuilt for the purposes of the summer residence of the President of Czechoslovakia. Construction work under the direction of the architect Jozhe Plechnik lasted from July 15 to August 6, 1921, they involved 358 permanent workers and 120 workers from 33 companies to carry out additional work. The reconstruction of the castle cost the treasury 3 million crowns and was carried out under the personal control of President Masaryk , who coordinated all the architectural changes proposed by Joz Plechnik.
