Biography
His main work is “ Palaeographia critica ”, which outlines Latin and Greek shorthand and provides a dictionary of Tyrone abbreviations. Kopp first proved the literal composition of the latter, formerly considered ideograms. This book, which constituted an era in the history of Latin paleography, Kopp published and technically extremely carefully: he himself typed difficult places for printing, he drew all the figures and prepared pictures of several acts of the Carolingian era. Four letters of the Carolingian era of the monasteries of Fulda and Gersfeld were preserved only in the photographs of Kopp.
He also wrote Bilder und Schriften der Vorzeit ( 1819 - 1821 ); Über die Verfassung der heimlichen Gerichte in Westfalen ( 1794 ); " Bruchstücke zur Erläuterung der deutschen Geschichte und Rechte " ( 1799 and 1801 ) and many other works.
