Nicola Savčić ( Serb. Nikola Savčić / Nikola Savčić ; March 13, 1974 , Belgrade ) - Serbian Yugoslav swimmer , played for the national team of Yugoslavia throughout the 1990s. Biography
Nikola Savcic was born on March 13, 1974 in Belgrade . He began to actively engage in swimming from early childhood, was trained in the Belgrade metropolitan club "April 11th". He specialized in breaststroke .
For the first time he entered the main team of the Yugoslav national team back in 1990. He took part in many major competitions of international importance, in particular, in 1993 he played at the World Championships in short water in Mallorca, and in 1994 he attended the world championship in water sports in Rome. Repeated champion of Yugoslavia in breaststroke.
Thanks to a series of successful performances, Savchich won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney - in the 100 meter breaststroke he started on the second track in the fourth preliminary race. Showing time 1.04.64, set a new record for Yugoslavia, but this was not enough to get into the semifinal stage. In the final protocol of the competition it is located on the 42 line [1] [2] [3] .
Shortly after the end of the Sydney Olympics, Nicola Savcic decided to end the career of a professional athlete, giving way to young Yugoslav swimmers in the national team. In 2001, he moved permanently to the United States, and worked as a swimming coach for the American Lakeridge team, based in Reno , Nevada .
