The work, as noted by art critic Nureddin Gabibov , was performed in an ostropsychological vein. Sattar Bahlulzade, according to Gabibov, is here dominated by thoughts and memories. Clubs of cigar smoke enveloped his swarthy, thin, ascetic face: the calm and intimacy of the atmosphere of the interior, as Gabibov notes, seemed to correspond to the artist’s creative mood [2] .
According to art critic Asad Guliyev, Narimanbekov rather created an image of the inner world and the psychological state of his friend, far from perceiving the pose. In the picture, Bahlulzade is surrounded by picture frames and holding a cigarette in his hands, as Guliyev notes, as if thinking of some of his work. According to Guliyev, the colorful solution to the work is masterfully executed and gives vividness to the image in the picture [3] .
