Biography

Born on July 27, 1906 in Minsk . Russian [2] .

Before serving in the army, he worked as a plumber in a locksmith and heat-conducting artel in Minsk [2] .

Military Service

October 18, 1927 voluntarily entered the Sevastopol school of anti-aircraft artillery, after its completion in April 1931 he was appointed platoon commander in the 113th artillery regiment of the LVO [2] .

In January 1932 he was sent to the Far East to the post of chief of intelligence of the 73rd separate artillery battalion in the city of Spassk , since October - battery commander [2] .

In November 1935 he enrolled as a student in the Artillery Academy of the Red Army. F.E. Dzerzhinsky . After a year of training, in October 1936 he was sent to the 115th artillery regiment of the LVO, where he served as battery commander, chief of staff and division commander. In the last post in the regiment from November 1939 to March 1940 he took part in the Soviet-Finnish War [2] .

In April 1940, Captain Kaminsky was appointed chief of staff of the 509th KOVO anti-aircraft artillery regiment. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1940 [2] .

Great Patriotic War

With the outbreak of war, the regiment entered into battles with enemy aircraft in the border region. With the occupation of the city of Lviv by German troops, the regiment retreated in the direction of Tarnopol , Kiev . Upon arrival in Kiev, he performed the tasks of air defense of the city. Since July 8, 1941, the regiment was reorganized into the 509th anti-tank artillery fighter. By July 20, he was redeployed to the Western Front in the 19th Army and participated in the battle of Smolensk . Since August 29, the regiment fought in the 22nd Army in the Toropets direction, then from September 25 again in the 19th Army. He took part in the Vyazemsky defensive operation [2] .

From October 5, 1941, the 509th Anti-Tank Artillery Regiment was part of the 5th , from November 28th to the 16th , and from December 10th to the 5th Army of the Western Front again. As part of the latter, he distinguished himself during the counterattack near Moscow , in the battles to liberate the city of Mozhaisk and on the approaches to Gzhatsk . For military distinctions in the battle of Moscow on January 8, 1942, he was transformed into the 3rd Guards and awarded the Order of the Red Banner [2] .

On February 10, 1942, Captain Kaminsky was admitted to the post of deputy commander of this regiment, and from April 2 he took command of the regiment. In the spring of 1942, the regiment was directly subordinate to the command of the Western Front, in the summer it was subordinated to the 20th Army and participated with it in the Rzhev-Sychevsky , Pogorelo-Gorodishchensky offensive operation. On December 10, 1942, while crossing the Gzhat River, Lt. Col. Kaminsky was seriously injured and evacuated to the hospital [2] .

After recovery on May 19, 1943 he was appointed commander of the 49th anti-aircraft artillery division of the RGK . He fought with her in the West, and from April 1944 - the 2nd Belorussian Front. In the summer of that year, the division covered the troops of the 31st Army in the defense east of Yartsevo . In September - October 1943, she distinguished herself in the Smolensk-Roslavl offensive operation. For the liberation of the city of Smolensk she was given the name "Smolenskaya". Since December 1943, the division was part of the 33rd Army of the Western Front. In its composition in late 1943 - early 1944 she participated in offensive operations in the Bogushevsky and Vitebsk directions. Since June 1944, the division was part of the 49th Army of the 2nd Belorussian Front. Participated in the defeat of Nazi forces in Belarus, in the Mogilev , Minsk , Bialystok , East Prussia , East Pomeranian and Berlin offensive operations, in forcing the rivers Dnieper , Pronya , Zapadnaya Dvina , Narev , Oder . For military distinctions in offensive operations at the final stage of the war, the division was awarded the orders of the Red Banner and Suvorov 2nd art. [2] .

During the war, Commander Kaminsky was personally mentioned four times in letters of thanks in the orders of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief [3] .

Post-war time

After the war, Colonel Kaminsky continued to command this division. In January 1947, he was transferred to the post of commander of the 65th anti-aircraft artillery orders of Kutuzov and Alexander Nevsky division of the RVK SGV [2] .

In September 1949 he was appointed deputy commander of artillery for anti-aircraft artillery ZakVO [2] .

From November 20, 1950 to November 1951 he was studying at courses at the Artillery Academy. F. E. Dzerzhinsky, then he was sent as deputy commander of artillery for anti-aircraft artillery PrikVO [2] .

Since November 1955, Major General of Artillery Kaminsky was at the disposal of the 10th Directorate of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces (he was on a business trip as a military adviser to the deputy commander of artillery for anti-aircraft artillery of the Polish Army) [2] .

Upon his return to the USSR in June 1959 he was appointed deputy chief of air defense of the North Caucasian Military District [2] .
