Sand ( French Sand ) is a commune in the northeast of France in the Grand Est region [1] (former Alsace - Champagne - Ardenne - Lorraine ), department of the Lower Rhine , district of Celeste-Ersten , canton of Ersten [2] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of Benfeld (Celeste-Ersten district).

Economics
In 2010, out of 807 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years old), 609 were economically active , 198 inactive (activity indicator 75.5%, in 1999 - 79.3%). Of the 609 active able-bodied residents, 581 people worked (309 men and 272 women), 28 were unemployed (12 men and 16 women). Among 198 able-bodied inactive citizens, 78 were pupils or students , 74 - pensioners , and another 46 - were inactive due to other reasons [9] [10] .
