Khabarovsk Command and Technical School is a secondary military educational institution of the USSR Ministry of Defense for the training of junior officers and technicians for the Strategic Missile Forces. It was located in the city of Khabarovsk (until 1942 in the city of Voroshilov, Primorsky Territory). It was located at: 680041, Khabarovsk, Kedrovy lane, 6.
Artillery School
In July 1941, by order of the commander of the troops of the Far Eastern Front, artillery courses of the command staff of the Far Eastern Front were formed. And on November 4, 1941, on the basis of these courses, a school of artillery and instrumental intelligence and a front artillery regiment, the Far Eastern Artillery School was formed. After the formation, on November 4, 1941, the school was deployed in Voroshilov (Ussuriysk since 1957) on the basis of the Baranovsky artillery range, and from July 15, 1942 it was relocated to Khabarovsk.
In the Far East, the school was the only military educational institution that trained artillery officers. With the start of World War II, the school introduced a shortened training period for cadets, but taking into account the artillery specifics, the study period was still 8 months. The school also had courses for the training and retraining of officers. At the school, a school for junior command personnel was organized.
Due to the large losses of officers on the fronts, from November 1, 1942, courses were opened for the retraining of command personnel of the artillery of the front with a training period of 3 months. But in view of the difficult situation on the fronts, command personnel were trained often and in shorter terms, less than 3 months. Only in the middle of 1943 the training period for students and cadets of the school was increased.
In September 1947, the school was renamed the Khabarovsk Artillery School.
As part of the Strategic Missile Forces
In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the formation and development of the Strategic Missile Forces (Strategic Missile Forces) began. It was necessary to train competent technical specialist officers for the operation of complex rocket technology, which had not yet been mastered, as soon as possible. To this end, on June 28, 1961, the Khabarovsk Artillery School was transferred from the Ground Forces to the Strategic Rocket Forces and renamed the Khabarovsk Command and Technical School. In 1961-1963 the school trained officers with one-year and 3-year training periods, as well as training courses for senior technicians in the technical specialties of the Strategic Missile Forces. Since 1964, the school switched to training officers for intercontinental missiles, and in 1969 it began to train technical commanders for the operation of combat equipment (warheads) of missiles and platoon commanders of electrified barriers. The school had its own educational material base, a suburban educational and engineering site and in the summer went to Belogorsk camp (Belogorsk, Amur region). In 1962, the first graduation of the Strategic Missile Forces specialist officers was carried out, and by 1971, more than 4 thousand rocket specialists were trained at the school, of which about 300 graduated with honors from the school. The school was disbanded on July 19, 1971. After the dissolution of the school in 1971, cadets who studied at the school and the combat training support unit (DUBO) with equipment were transferred to the Serpukhov Higher Military Command School to continue training in their specialty. 40, 41, 42 courses were formed. In 1972, another course was recruited with a 3-year training term - the 43rd, cadets of which became officers in 1975. At this, the training of officers with a 3-year training term was discontinued, and in 1976 they began to graduate. officers, specialists in nuclear weapons of the Strategic Missile Forces, with higher education and 5-year training. Graduates of the Khabarovsk Command and Technical School for many years worthily served in the nuclear technical support units not only of the Strategic Missile Forces, but also of other types of the Armed Forces, as well as 12 of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
Over the years, the school was commanded by: Major General A. Romashkin (June 1961 - December 1963), A. Kozin (December 1963 - December 1968); Colonel Tarakanov G.M. (December 1968 - October 1971).
