David Goodall ( born David W. Goodall ; April 4, 1914 , Edmonton - May 10, 2018 , Liestal ) - English and Australian geobotanist and environmentalist statistician. Professor Edith Cowan University. He is the author of more than 100 environmental studies and a member of the Order of Australia . The oldest scientist in Australia [1] .

Biography
David Goodall was born in the town of Edmonton. In 1935 he received a bachelor's degree in botany at a college in London . From 1935 to 1946, he worked as a research assistant at the Research Institute of Plant Physiology at the Eastmolling Research Station. In 1941 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Science at the London College From 1946 to 1947, he worked in Ghana at the Ghana Cocoa Research Institute (CRIG). In 1948 he emigrated to Australia and until 1952 he worked as a senior teacher of botany at the University of Melbourne . Since 1953, Professor. From 1954 to 1956 she teaches at the University of Reading. From 1956 to 1961, he headed the Tobacco Research Institute in Maryba. From 1961 to 1967. Chief Researcher of the Department of Mathematical Statistics of the State Association for Scientific and Applied Research (CSIRO) in Perth (Western Australia). From 1968 to 1974 - Professor of Systems Ecology at the Center for Ecology at the University of Utah. Between 1974 and 1979, David Goodall was a Research Associate at the CSIRO Land Management Division. For the past 20 years, Goodall has fought for the legalization of euthanasia in Australia and was a member of the Australian organization , which lobbied for the right to voluntary retirement for those in need. On May 1, 2018, he went on an euthanasia tour to Switzerland, where on May 10, while listening to Beethoven's 9th symphony , he injected himself with a lethal injection of pentobarbital and died. Goodall hoped that his act would fuel public interest in the issue of euthanasia, provoke discussion and help change Australian legislation [2] .
