Biography
Born into a peasant family. In Budslau graduated from elementary school.
After the October Revolution of 1917 , he was elected chairman of the hair executive committee, later became commissioner for food of the Vilna province .
Since 1918 - member of the RCP (b) . After the creation of the Lithuanian-Belarusian SSR in February 1919 , Vasilevich was appointed deputy commissar of food.
He later led the food supply of the Southwestern Front.
After the Civil War, he worked in Ukraine : the Provincial Commissar in Yekaterinoslavl, a member of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Kharkov Military District . He was the head of the tax department of the People's Commissar of Finance of the USSR .
At the end of 1925, I. A. Vasilevich returned to Belarus and was appointed People's Commissar of Internal Trade, elected a candidate member of the Central Committee of the CP (b) B. In the spring of 1926 he became People's Commissar of Finance of the BSSR .
Under his leadership, an agricultural tax reform was launched in the BSSR in 1926 , according to which the range of taxable income and tax benefits for the poor and collective farms was expanded, while at the same time a sharp increase in progressive rates for the prosperous and middle classes in the Belarusian village.
When substantiating the draft budget for 1926 - 1927 . highlighted its features: a decrease in income due to the completion of the recovery period and a slowdown in economic growth in the BSSR ; reorientation of the budget to finance the national economy; separation of city and district budgets.
At the XI Congress of the CP (b) B in November 1927, Vasilevich was elected second secretary of the Party Central Committee. In this position, he cared for the Belarusian intelligentsia, creating favorable conditions for its activities. When during the XII Congress there were accusations of T. Gartny , M. Zaretsky , A. Aleksandrovich of national views and mistakes, and some demanded punishment for writers, Vasilevich defended them. He stated that it would be foolish after they acknowledged their mistakes to drop them, that in the future they could bring many benefits to the Belarusian people. Vasilevich often visited the hospitable house of Yanka Kupala .
At the end of the 1920s, he focused on the ideological support of the transition to mass collectivization of agriculture of the BSSR, including in his publications and speeches.
At the end of October 1930, the plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolshevik B) decided to send I.A. In Moscow, he worked at the People's Commissariat of Agriculture of the USSR. Together with V. G. Knorin , I. A. Menitsky, A. S. Slavinsky, he entered the subsection of the history of Belarus of the section of the history of the peoples of the USSR at the Society of Marxist Historians.
Later it was sent to the Far East . In 1932 - 1933 was the head of the agricultural department of the Far Eastern Regional Committee of the CPSU (b) .
On June 20, 1937, Ivan Antonovich was groundlessly arrested. According to the prosecution, “since 1933 he was a member of the anti-Soviet organization of the Right, which operated in the BSSR, was engaged in wrecking activities in economic construction” , was a “Polish and Japanese spy . ” Among the 40 convicts in the 1st category, he was included in the "List of Persons in the Belarusian SSR Subject to the Court of the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR" (11/01/1937), signed by the head of the 8th Division of the GUGB NKVD Art. Major of State Security Caesarsky. Shot on November 24, 1937 . Rehabilitated posthumously in 1956 .
