Malko, Ivan Matveevich

Born at the end of the 19th century in the dungeon Kalinovka (now - Sivye village, Svatkovsky village council , Myadel district , Minsk region , Belarus ). The neighbors nicknamed the inhabitants of the dungeon "Sivak" due to the fact that his great-great-grandfather had a gray beard. The nickname took root over time and the dungeon began to be called the village of Sivye.

Peasant children studied in the neighboring village of Shklenikovo in a cramped house. Then he studied in Madel in a two-year school, which he graduated with excellent marks.

Later, Ivan Malko successfully passed the exam and entered the Molodechno teacher's seminary.

With the outbreak of World War I, seminary was evacuated to Smolensk .

In 1916 , in Smolensk, Ivan Malko received the certificate of a public teacher.

In 1920 , he joined the Red Army as a volunteer, and fought with the White Poles. The military unit made a recommendation for admission to higher forest courses. He studied in absentia at the Leningrad Forestry Academy .

Since 1932 he worked in the Leningrad Trust of green spaces. Five years later he became an urban gardener. He was engaged in the planning of new gardens, parks, squares.

In World War II, Ivan Matveevich fought at the front. A serious wound and concussion permanently disabled him.

In January 1945 , he returned to work. He served as the main city gardener of Leningrad . Combined work with teaching. He gave lectures on landscaping and landscape gardening in a technical school and forestry academy.

On retirement, Ivan Malko was engaged in public work, developed garden projects for the Nevsky district of the city, where he lived for many years.

He visited Myadelsky district , presented his books to fellow countrymen. In a letter, he also made recommendations on the landscaping of the district center: which species of trees and shrubs should be selected.
