Biography
He began military service on August 13, 1792 with the rank of captain of dragoons of the Allobrozh Legion. He served in the Alpine army, took part in the siege of Toulon. On February 5, 1794 he was transferred to the 15th Dragoon Regiment of the Army of the Eastern Pyrenees. He participated in the Italian campaign of Bonaparte , distinguished himself when crossing the bridge in Lodi. May 25, 1796 was wounded by a shot in the head during a battle with rebels in the streets of Pavia . Later he participated in the key battles of the campaign - at Lonato, Castiglione, Rovereto, during the siege of Mantua, Arcole and Tagliamento.
In 1798 he was determined to be part of the Eastern Army and took part in the Egyptian expedition. After the surrender of Alexandria, on September 2, 1801 he returned to France.
October 29, 1803 promoted to majors, and appointed deputy commander of the 22nd Dragoon Regiment. December 31, 1806 received the rank of colonel, and became commander of the 3rd cuirassier regiment. He fought in the ranks of the 1st division of the heavy cavalry . He distinguished himself in the battle of Friedland. During the Austrian campaign of 1809 he distinguished himself in the battles of Ekmule and Wagram, and was wounded in the battle of Aspern.
August 6, 1811 promoted to brigadier generals. December 25, 1811 led the 2nd brigade of the 2nd division of the heavy cavalry , with which he participated in the Russian campaign. He distinguished himself in the battle of Borodino.
January 26, 1813 received permission to return to France due to illness. March 1, 1813 was appointed commander of the 1st brigade of the 3rd division of the light cavalry of the 1st cavalry corps . June 9, 1813 - commandant of the Moselle department . January 14, 1814 - commandant of Metz .
March 7, 1815 received French citizenship. During the Hundred Days, he joined the Emperor and took over as commandant of Longvey . June 12, 1815 - commandant of the Moselle department.
After the second Restoration, he retained his post. March 27, 1817 - royal lieutenant in Metz. February 28, 1827 resigned. October 31, 1827 received the rank of Honorary Lieutenant General. May 22, 1831 was assigned to the reserve of the General Staff and May 1, 1832 finally retired.
