Description
It occupies two interconnected buildings (the first corner and the second along the street) from the intersection of the pedestrian Bauman street (house 80) and Universitetskaya street (house 7).
The first building was built in 1869-1873. like the house of the Kazan merchant of the first guild Zigansha Usmanov. In 1899, the building was rebuilt for the new owners - the Trading House of E. S. Smolentsev and N. P. Shmelev. Then in the upper part of the building appeared the hotel, known as the "Northern Rooms".
Near 1909-1910 By order of the same Smolentsev and Shmelev, a two-domed second hotel building was built. Both buildings were interconnected and painted in green tones.
In Soviet times, the hotel was called "Council."
The buildings for the Millennium of Kazan in 2005 were completely rebuilt and restored with a change in color to creamy brown tones and bright night lighting, after which the hotel got its modern name. The hotel has a restaurant, conference room, spa.
On the site in front of the main entrance to the hotel (in the second building) is a monument to Fedor Ivanovich Chaliapin , who was born in Kazan. On the ground floor of the first building are shops and offices.
