Biography
Son of Duke Alexander de Bofremont and Marie-Antoinette-Rosalie-Pauline de Calan de la Vogillon.
Born in exile. Erected by Napoleon in the dignity of the Count of the Empire. The colonel of cavalry, was an adjutant of Marshal Murat , participated in the campaigns of 1812-1813 and distinguished himself in the Battle of Borodino and the Battle of Dresden . At the First Restoration on July 17, 1814 he was granted a knighthood of the military order of St. Louis .
During the Hundred Days period, he was sent by Murat with secret dispatches to Napoleon, but he did not find the emperor in Paris, and on the way back he was arrested by the Austrians in Turin and extradited to the French. For some time he served in the Russian army, then returned to his father in Saint-sur-Saône in Franche-Comté .
After the proclamation of the Second Empire decree of January 26, 1852, he was drafted into the Senate . Elected to the upper chamber on December 31, 1852.
A terracotta patinated plaster bust of Duke de Bofremont, the work of Henri-Frederik Iselen (1856) is now in the Museum of Georges Garrés in Vesoul .
