Mladen Stegić ( Serb. Mladen Stegiћ / November 14, 1980 , Belgrade ) - Serbian rower , played for the national rowing teams of Yugoslavia, Serbia and Montenegro in the first half of the 2000s. Participant of two summer Olympic Games, silver medalist of the World Cup, world champion among juniors, finalist of European and world championships, winner and medalist of many regattas of national importance.

Biography
Mladen Stegic was born on November 14, 1980 in Belgrade . He began to actively engage in rowing at the age of twelve in 1992, the first time he trained at the local Partizan club in the capital, later he left to study and train in the USA at the University of California at Berkeley , and was a member of the University of California Golden Bears rowing club.
He made his international debut in 1997, speaking at the World Junior Championships in the Belgian Khatsevinkel. A year later, in the program of wheelless twos, he won the junior world championship in the Austrian Linz. A year later, for the first time he performed at the World Cup in rowing and attended the adult world championship in Canada's St. Catharines.
Thanks to a series of successful performances, Stegic became a member of the national team of Serbia and Montenegro and was awarded the right to defend the honor of the country at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney . I started here in the standings of the steering wheelless fours together with partners Filip Filipich , Ivan Smilyanich and Boban Rankovich - at the starting qualification stage they showed only the fifth result, but through the additional qualifying race, where they were the best, they still made it to the semifinals. At the stage of semi-finals they finished fifth and thus got into the consolation finale “B”. In the consolation finale “B”, the Serbian-Montenegrin crew took second place and, thus, took the eighth line in the final protocol of the competition.
After the Sydney Olympics, Mladen Stegic remained in the main team of Serbia's rowing team and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 2001, he visited the world championship in Lucerne. In 2003, he performed at the world championship in Milan, in 2004 he won a silver medal at the World Cup in Polish Poznan. Being one of the leaders of the rowing team of Serbia and Montenegro, he successfully passed the selection for the Olympic Games in Athens - together with his team mate Nikolai Stoic , he took second place in the steering-free doubles at the preliminary stage, became second in the semifinals, while in the decisive final race he showed the fifth result at the finish . Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end the career of a professional athlete, giving way to young Serbian rowers in the national team.
