Atlanta Film Festival , or the Atlanta Film Festival ( Atlanta Film Festival ; abbreviation: ATLFF ) is an international feature film and documentary festival in Atlanta , the capital of Georgia , USA . It has a competitive character and accreditation of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which allows the films presented at the film festival to claim the Oscar award in the respective nominations. Thus, the short comedy “ ” directed by and Lisa Blount , having passed the qualification at the 2001 film festival in Atlanta, in 2002 won the Academy Award in the Best Game Short Film nomination.

The Atlanta Film Festival was founded in 1976. It runs every spring in March - April. The festival presents a wide range of independent films in various genres, such as experimental films, horror films and science fiction.
Since 2008, it has been awarded the “Pink Peach” prize in the nomination “The best full-length and short film on the LGBT theme”. The award is awarded to a special jury for this nomination. Since 2013, the festival has begun annual screenings of films made by female directors and dedicated to the problems of women in modern society. Films were shown in a separate program "New Mavericks". In 2015, this program was expanded and the New Mavericks Award was established in the nomination “The Best Feature and Short Film Made by a Female Director”.
For many years, the Landmark Midtown Art Cinema, Atlantic Station Regal Cinemas and the Rialto Center for the Arts in Georgia have been the venues for the film festival. Since 2013, the film festival has been held at in and in the Seven Stage Theater in .
