History

Chavoglava - the village of Dalmatinskaya Zagora. Initially, this region was called Zagorje (comitatus Zagorie). During the time of the Turkish yoke, in 1522-1699, there was Nakhiya Zagorje. In the years 1699-1797. the region was ruled by the Venetian Republic . The Venetians divided Zagorje into the Drniš and Trogir regions - and since then the administrative unit of Zagorje has not been restored. However, the toponym Zagorie, transformed into Zagora (Zagora, dalmatinska Zagora), was firmly held in the memory of the people. Zagorsk regional self-identity is most strongly preserved in the villages of Unešić, Lechevica (Lećevica [1] ), Prgomet (Prgomet [2] ) and Chavoglava. Dalmatian Zagorites speak the Shtokav-Ikav dialect. Chavoglava - the birthplace of the Australian sculptor Ante Dabro (Ante Dabro).

At the beginning of the Croatian War of Independence (1991-1995), the village of Chavoglave was not far from the front. In 1992, a local native Marko Perkovic (a chauffeur and an amateur musician) organized a self-defense unit in his native village, called Čavoglava prva bojna. Perkovich’s writing of his first hit, the song “Bojna Čavoglave”, dates back to the same time. The song calls on all Croats to unite to fight against the Chetniks so that they do not capture the village of Perkovich - Chavoglava. Soon this song was heard on Split radio, glorifying the author.

On August 5, 2012, the Thompsonovu veselicu u Čavoglavama - 2012 rally took part in the Thompson festivities in лавavoglava, Croatian gusliy Mile Krajina , Dane Juric and the fighter-avenger Zvonko Busic . In total, about 100,000 people attended the open-air concert.
