- April 9 - The Royal Albert Hall ( London ) hosted the Lawrence Olivier Award Ceremony, a triumph of which was the two-part play “ Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ”, setting a record of 9 awards received. [one]
- April 19 - laureates of the Golden Mask Award for 2016 were announced in Moscow.
- June 11 - The 71st Tony Award Ceremony was held at the Radio City Music Hall ( New York ) Concert Hall, where the musical Dear Evan Hansen won 6 awards and the Theater Award was awarded to James Earl Jones .
- October 18 - The Bridge Theater opened, the first commercial theater in London in 80 years, the building of which was specially built for the theater company. [2]

- July 8, Moscow - at the Bolshoi Theater the decision of the management suddenly canceled the premiere of the ballet " Nureyev ", scheduled for July 11. The event caused a great public outcry [6] . The performance was released five months later, on December 9 and 10, 2017 [7] .
