Altap salamander

Altap Salamander (formerly known as Servant Salamander ) is a classic file manager for Microsoft Windows , distributed under a shareware license, inspired by Norton Commander . Unlike other analogues, it provides the ability to customize its functions in accordance with the level of user experience, allowing you to hide functions that are dangerous for a novice user. The program has a Russian version.

Application development began in 1996 as a hobby of Petr Šolín (from the Czech Republic ) when he was a student. Initially, the program was distributed under the freeware freeware license in 1997. During development, the programming language Watcom C ++ was used, later Microsoft Visual C ++ 6.0 was used. The latest free version 1.52 is also available for download from the Altap website.

The first shareware 2.0 license was released in 2001 by the newly formed Altap. Salamander 2.0 supported plugins for archiving and viewing various file formats. During the development of version 2.5, the modular architecture was expanded to support modules for file systems , FTP, and other protocols.

The SDK for developing modules for version 2.5 allows module developers to create new modules for viewing files, working with archives, working with file systems and performing other tasks.
