Geography, description
Lake Donner has an oval shape, it is stretched from west to east by 4.3 kilometers, from north to south - by one kilometer. The area is 3.4 km², the maximum depth is 72.5 meters. Donner is located at an altitude of 1821 meters above sea level on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada . It was formed as a result of the moraine pond. The lake is fed by the Summit Creek and Gregory Creek, as well as many springs; The Donner Creek, a tributary of the Truckee River, flows out of the lake. The lake administratively refers to the city of Truckee [1] . The I-80 highway [2] and run along the northern shore of the lake, and the first US transcontinental railroad runs along the southern one. State Park is located along the eastern shore of the lake [3] [ 3] [4] .
The lake, as well as a number of other objects nearby, is named after the expedition Donner Party (1846–1847).
In the lake there is a , mykiss , brown trout , and sockeye . Donner Lake is the venue for triathlon [5] [6] .
