Konrad of Marburg (second half of the 12th century - 1233, Marburg ) is a German preacher of the Crusades and the Inquisitor .

He gained tremendous influence as an adviser to the landgraf Ludwig IV in Thuringia and as the confessor of the landgrafine Elizabeth. Ruthlessly and brutally fulfilled the duties of the church inspector and inquisitor assigned to him by Gregory IX , he raged on the Cathars and Waldensians on the Rhine and in central Germany , and on the stingings in Oldenburg ( 1232 ).
Called to answer the Diet in Mainz , where he was reprimanded , Conrad was killed on his return home by several knights near Marburg ( 1233 ).
