Bakunin, Alexander Alexandrovich

Alexander Aleksandrovich Bakunin (1821-1908) - defender of Sevastopol, a participant in the battles for the freedom of Italy, a public figure. Brother P. A. Bakunin and A. A. Bakunin [1] .

Biography

From the nobles. A law student at Moscow University (1839-1843), who graduated with a candidate ’s degree [1] . Professor of the history of Roman law at the Richelieu Lyceum [2] in Odessa (1848–1849) [3] .

Married (January 1852) to Elizabeth Vasilyevna Markova-Vinogradskaya, sister of the second husband A.P. Kern . The married life of Alexander Bakunin did not last long - four months after the birth of his son Alexei (January 1853), Elizaveta Vasilyevna died of consumption (May 1853) [2] .

At the beginning of the Crimean War, he entered the military service as an ordinary and participated in the defense of Sevastopol (1854–1855) , and was awarded the St. George distinction . He was promoted to officers and retired.

For improvement in painting, he left for Italy, where at that time events related to the unification of Italy took place . Alexander Bakunin volunteered for the troops of J. Garibaldi , where he served for several years.

The introduction of a zemstvo, a new court, and other reforms in Russia prompted Alexander Bakunin to return to his homeland. Returning to Russia (1862), he was elected the vowel of the Novotorzhsky district zemstvo and the Tver provincial zemstvo (since 1865). From the very introduction of the world institute he was a justice of the peace in Novotorzhye district [3] . Member of the Constitutional Democratic Party (Cadets) (since 1905), participated in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Empire of the 1st , 2nd and 3rd convocations [1] , as an elector, but was not elected.
