Biography
The son of Louis Benin de Beaufremont , the Marquis de Listen and Clairvaux, and Helene de Courtenay.
Marquis, then Prince de Beaufremont, seigneur of the Duchy of Pont de Vaux, Marquis de Mirbo and de Marne, Count de Charm and de Burlemont, Viscount de Salen and de Marigny, Baron de Seu-sur-Saone, Clervaux, Flazi, Ville La Fe, Focognier, Melize, Herbs, Corcondre, Saint-Sorlin, Resen and Durne, seigneur of fifteen other lands, and so on.
On July 6, 1723 he was appointed lieutenant of the Dragoons regiment of Bofremont (a reformed peacetime squad). In 1727 he was sent to study in a cadet company in Strasbourg . January 13, 1728 received a company in his regiment, and December 4, after the resignation of his father, became his commander.
He commanded a regiment during the siege of Kehl (1733), Philippsburg (1734) and in the Rhine Army (1735). After the resignation of his father-in-law, the Marquis de Montmen , on June 8, 1736, he was given the post of governor of Cecel .
January 1, 1740 promoted to foreman , in November granted the Knights of the Military Order of St. Louis . On September 24, 1741, he made a regiment from Fort Louis to the Austrian border, where he guarded the troops of the Count de Seguir, helped defend Linz and returned to France in January 1742 after the surrender of this fortress, being released on parole not to participate in the war for a year .
On May 16, 1743, he was assigned to the Rhine Army, fought at the Battle of Dettingen under the command of Marshal de Noai , and ended the campaign in Lower Alsace.

On April 15, 1748, he was assigned to the Flanders Army, served in the siege of Maastricht , and on May 10 he was promoted to lieutenant general (officially, since December). At the end of the campaign he returned to Charleroi, where he remained until the end of February.
With the beginning of the Seven Years War, on March 1, 1757 he was appointed to the German Army. In the same month he received permission from the Grand Master of the Order of Malta to wear the Order Cross.
With a diploma issued by Emperor Franz I on June 8, 1757 in Vienna, Louis de Beaufremont was elevated to the rank of imperial prince, as were his descendants, his brothers and their descendants, as heirs to the house of de Gorrevo, having had a princely title since 1623. Under the terms of the award, the Bofremons were to add the name and coat of arms of Gorrevo to their generic name and coat of arms.
Taking into account the relationship between the Bofremons and the Burgundian house, and the brilliance of their name, the emperor also granted them the title of cousin, and the king of France made a similar award by decree of December 13, 1759.
In 1757, Prince de Beaufremont participated in the Battle of Hastenbeck and the occupation of Hanover , returning to France in January 1758.
May 1, 1758 again appointed to the German army, fought in the Battle of Minden on August 1. Separated on September 12 with two infantry brigades, two dragoons and one hussar regiment, he took control of the heights between Giessen and Kleinlinn, providing the army with communications reserves. He returned to France at the end of the campaign.

Wife (04.24.1735, Besancon ): Marie-Suzanne-Simone-Ferdinand de Tenarre (1722-1800), daughter of Henri-Ferdinand de Tenarra , Marquise de Montmen, Lieutenant General of the King’s armies, and Anna-Josepha-Ferdinanda de Grammon, ladies de focognier. In 1757, she received the right to wear the large cross of the Order of Malta, since her ancestors had the right to appoint commanders of the order in Tuscany.
