Content
History
In the Historical and geographical dictionary of the Saratov province, compiled in 1898-1902, is listed as the village of the Rudnya parish of the Kamyshin district of the Saratov province . Date of foundation unknown. Residents - Little Russians, Orthodox, former serfs of the princes Chetvertinsky . In 1892 a parish school was opened [2]
Since 1928 - as part of the Rudnyansky district of the Kamyshin district (the district was abolished in 1930) of the Lower Volga region [3] . Since 1935, as part of the Lemeshkinsky District of the Stalingrad Region (since 1936 - the Stalingrad Region, from 1954 to 1957 - the area within the Balashov Region ) [4] . In 1959, in connection with the abolition of the Lemeshkinsky district, it was transferred to the Rudnyansky district [5]
Physical-geographical characteristic
The village is located in a steppe area, within the Hopersko-Buzuluk plain , which is the southern end of the Oka-Don lowland , which is part of the East European plain , on the right bank of the Shchelkan river. The terrain is flat [6] . The soils are southern chernozems [7] . The height of the center of the settlement is about 115 meters above sea level [6] .
A motorway passes through the village, connecting the village of Lemeshkino and the village of Rudnya . By road, the distance to the regional center of the city of Volgograd is 310 km, to the district center of the village of Rudnya - 11 km, to the administrative center of the rural settlement of the village Osichki - 8.5 km. Approximately 1.3 km in a straight line on the opposite bank of the Shchelkan River , the nearest populated area is the village of Barannikovo [8] .

The climate is temperate continental (according to the Köppen climate classification - Dfb ). The long-term rainfall is 432 mm. The greatest amount of precipitation falls in July - 50 mm, the smallest in March - 22 mm. The average annual temperature is positive and amounts to + 6.3 ° С, the average temperature of the coldest month of January is –10.1 ° С, and the hottest month of July is +21.9 ° С [9] .
