Shelf history

The Great Germany Tank Regiment was formed on January 13, 1943 on the basis of the Great Germany Tank Battalion (which received the 1st serial number on March 1) and the 2nd Tank Battalion of the 203rd Tank Regiment.

On July 1, 1943, on the basis of the 13th heavy tank company, as well as the 3rd company of the 501st and 3rd company of the 504th heavy tank battalion, the 3rd heavy tank battalion of the Tigers was formed.

On October 15, 1943, the 1st Tank Battalion was transformed into the 4-company Panther Battalion.

On May 6, 1944, the 1st Tank Battalion was included in the 116th Tank Division .

In June 1944, the 1st Tank Battalion was incorporated into the 6th Tank Division .

In November 1944, the 2nd Tank Battalion was incorporated into the Führer's Escort Brigade .

On December 13, 1944, the 3rd Heavy Tank Battalion was renamed to the Great Germany Battalion.

On 2 March 1945, the 2nd Tank Battalion was renamed the 2nd Tank Battalion of the 102nd Tank Regiment.
