Shcherbakovo on the scheme of the Kamensky district ; 1928 year

The village of Shcherbakovo of the Kamensky urban district of the Sverdlovsk region is located 11 kilometers west of the city of Kamensk-Uralsky (by road 12 kilometers), on both banks of the Iset River , in the vicinity of which there are numerous rocks: Gushchinsky Stones, Fortress, Zayachya Gora, Ryabovo [ 2] . The village is located in a mountainous area covered with a shallow birch and partially pine forest, with a healthy climate and chernozem soil [3] .

History

At the beginning of the XVII century on the site of the village was a small Bashkir aul "Shcherbaki" with three dozen shacks, surrounded by forest. Later, with the resettlement of Russians from the central provinces of Russia, the Bashkir village turned into a Russian one with the same name, which at first belonged to the parish of the church of the fortress of Kolchedansky (now the village of Kolchedansky in 28 versts). In 1700, an independent parish was opened in the village, and the village of Shcherbaki became known as the Shcherbakov settlement [3] .

At the beginning of the XX century, the main occupation of the villagers was agriculture [3] . In 1916, the village belonged to the Shcherbakov volost. In 1928, the Shcherbakovsky was part of the Shcherbakovsky village council of the Kamensky district of the Shadrinsky district of the Ural region . [four]

Nicholas Church

The first wooden church was built in 1705 in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and was consecrated in 1708. In 1800, a church altar was laid on the south side of the church in the name of St. John the Prophet and Baptist. Having existed for 114 years, the wooden temple began to fall into disrepair. The church was small with two ramps like the roof of houses; it was very dark in it, since the windows were made of mica. In 1818, a stone church was founded, single-throne, in honor of the same saint. But in the same 1818, “due to the bad kindness of the brick and the dishonest attitude to the contractor’s luggage,” construction was prohibited and allowed only in 1833. At the end of construction in 1844, the church was consecrated in 1845 in the name of St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra. The newly built temple was in the shape of a ship. The walls of the temple and the altar in 1883 were covered with painting, and in the temple in 1887. The old wooden church, along with the iconostasis, was sold in 1846 to the newly separated parish, in the village of Tygish , for 200 rubles in banknotes, and in its place a monument was erected, surrounded by a stone fence with iron bars. In the new church in 1882, the iconostasis was renewed by means of parishioners. In 1853, the temple was surrounded by a stone fence with iron bars, which was used by parishioners 1830 rubles. At the church were stored: the Holy Gospel of the edition of 1789, a tin vessel purchased at the very foundation of the church, canvas vestments, casting bells of 1726 and 1732. Decrees in the church have been kept since 1721. The clergy consisted of a priest, deacon, and psalm-reader. To house them there were two church houses. The church has had a parish school since 1889 [3] .

The church was closed in 1937 [2] . Currently, restoration is not underway, the church continues to collapse, the murals have not been preserved [11] .
