Stepan Yakovlevich Strelkov ( 1878 - 1953 ) - Russian and Soviet scientist-doctor; author of 51 scientific papers, participant in many All-Russian congresses of surgeons.

Biography

Born July 12, 1878 in the village of Voskresensky Makaryevsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod province in a peasant family.

In 1895 he graduated from the agricultural school of the 1st category and for the next six years worked as a teacher in an elementary public school in the Urzhum district of the Vyatka province , where he married. In 1901, Stepan Strelkov entered the third grade of the Kazan Agricultural School, in 1902 he was expelled from it for participating in a student strike. In 1903, he externally passed the exam for the matriculation certificate at the 3rd Kazan gymnasium and entered the medical faculty of Kazan University . In 1905 he was again expelled from the university for participating in the strike and in 1906 he was sent abroad to Zurich , where he spent eight months. Returning from Switzerland , he again entered Kazan University, where he graduated in 1909 with a doctor’s degree. He worked as the head of the Vavozh hospital of the Malmyzh district of the Vyatka province. In the same year he moved to Kazan , where he worked as a supernumerary laboratory assistant at the Department of Surgical Pathology and Therapy. From 1910 to 1913 he was the resident of the faculty surgical clinic of Kazan with Professor A. V. Vishnevsky . Upon completion of the residency in 1913, he began working in the county hospital of the city of Sloboda Vyatka province, organized a surgical department there, which he was in charge of until 1918.

Member of World War I as a senior surgeon in the advance detachment No. 27 of the Red Cross. In December 1918 he was mobilized into the Red Army ; At first he worked as a senior resident, then - as the chief physician of the field reserve hospital in Vyatka (now the city of Kirov ). In September 1921, S. Ya. Strelkov was seconded to Perm State University , where he was elected senior assistant to the hospital surgical clinic of the medical faculty. In 1926 he became a privat-docent , in 1928 - a professor in the department of operative surgery and topographic anatomy. In 1931-1932, concurrently headed the department of normal anatomy.

In 1933, Strelkov was transferred to the newly created Izhevsk State Medical Institute . At the same time, until 1935, he taught a course of school hygiene at the Udmurt Pedagogical Institute and headed the trauma department of the city clinical hospital No. 1. In 1935, he was confirmed as a professor at the Department of General Surgery, receiving a doctorate in medical sciences. From 1937 to 1953 he headed the Department of Hospital Surgery, which he organized at the Izhevsk Medical Institute. He was engaged in social activities - from 1935 to 1953 he was chairman of the society of surgeons of the Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, and was also a deputy of the Supreme Council of the republic [1] . He conducted consultative and therapeutic work in various hospitals and evacuation hospitals of Udmurtia, prepared two candidates of medical sciences.

He died in 1953 in Izhevsk. [2] Wife - Strelkova Julia Alexandrovna, teacher, head of the Votsky school.

Rewards

  • He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor (1946) and the Order of Lenin (1953), [4] medals of the USSR and diplomas of the Council of Ministers of the Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
  • For many years of pedagogical and scientific activity S. Ya. Strelkov in 1938 was awarded the honorary title “ Honored Scientist of the Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic ”.
