The Seimas Ambassador ( Belorussian. Pasol Soimava ) is a representative of the nobility of the Powiat on the Seimas of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania , and later the Commonwealth . Two ambassadors were elected from each district, however, it was not forbidden for the other gentry to go to the Sejm. The duties of the ambassadors were described in detail in the Second Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania ( 1566 ).
During the formation of the Commonwealth, the ambassadors entered the lower house of the Sejm - the Ambassadorial Hut .
Since 1690, the right of every ambassador to the Sejm and every nobleman to the Sejm to freely discuss any issues was legislated.
