The project of a new 22-story hotel 81 meters high was developed in the early 70s at the Minskproject Institute. The hotel was supposed to be located in a green area, close to the Park Highway (now the Victory Avenue ). From the windows of the rooms there should have been a picturesque view of the Svisloch river bed, the historic district of Troitsky suburb and then the modern architectural complex of the Park Highway. The opening of the hotel was planned for the 1980 Summer Olympics in which Minsk was one of the five participating cities. However, the construction was delayed, in particular by May 1981 only 17 floors were ready. The construction of the hotel complex was carried out from 1975 to 1987 by Minsk Construction Trust No. 7. The hotel received the name from the former Belarus Hotel located on Kirova Street, which was called Svisloch since 1987, now it is the Princess Hotel. In 2014, the Belarus Hotel was renovated.
