Dirin, Sokrat Nikolaevich

Sokrat Nikolaevich Dirin (1849 - January 22, 1924 [1] ) - statesman of the Russian Empire, Estland and Novgorod vice-governor.

It came from an ancient noble family of Dirins ; Born in the family of Cornet Nikolai Ivanovich [2] and Ekaterina Ivanovna Dirin [3] , who owned estates in the Starorussky , Krestetsky and Demyansky districts of the Novgorod province [4] .

He entered the service on January 20, 1873; in 1876 he received the title of junker chamber [5] .

He participated in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878 .

From June 8, 1892 to April 13, 1903 he was vice-governor of the Estland province , then, until 1914 - vice-governor of the Novgorod province

Having retired, he went to Staraya Russa , where he had a mansion. He was buried in the cemetery in Zaselye , where the Dirins' estate used to be. [6]

His wife, Ekaterina Ignatyevna (illegitimate daughter of the Polish landowner Emilia Wundowicz), gave birth to him a son, who was named Diodorus, as well as four daughters who had no less original names: Tekusya, Iriada, Vevey [1] .
