Sarah Anne van de Geer is a Dutch statistical scientist, professor at the Faculty of Mathematics at the Swiss Higher Technical School Zurich [2] . Her research interests include , , entropy, , and , probabilistic inequalities in random processes , M-estimated functions [3] .

Sarah van de Geer graduated from the magistracy in 1982 and defended her Ph.D. thesis in 1987 on the topic “ Regression Analysis and the ” under the leadership of Willem Rutger van Zweet and [4] . She worked in teaching and research positions at the (1982-1983), the Center for Mathematics and Computer Science (1983-1987, 1988-1989), the University of Bristol (1987-1988), the University of Utrecht (1989-1990), Leyden the university (1990–1997, 1999–2005), the (1997–1999), and the Swiss Higher Technical School of Zurich (since 2005) [2] . From 1996 to 2016, under her leadership, at least 13 graduate students defended themselves [5] .
Van de Geer - President [7] , guest speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians (2010) [7] , recipient of the Van Waingaarden Prize (2016) [8] , elected member of the International Statistical Institute and the [2] , Academician of the German Leopoldina [9] and Corresponding Member of the Netherlands Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts [10] .
