Event
The explosion occurred in the Coptic Cathedral of St. Mark in Cairo . According to some sources, the bomb was planted inside the chapel adjacent to the outer wall of the cathedral. According to other sources, the unknown threw a bomb at one of the premises of the temple during the service [3] .

In connection with the terrorist attack in Egypt, a three-day national mourning was declared [4] .
On December 12, 2016, Egyptian President Abdul-Fattah al-Sisi announced that a certain suicide bomber was Mahmoud Shafiq, as well as the arrest of 4 others involved in the attack and the search for two other suspects [5] .
