Mendiant (from French, a beggar, a beggar) - a traditional French Christmas confectionery, which is a chocolate disk decorated with nuts and dried fruits [1] . Each ingredient symbolizes four mendicant , or monastic , orders; the colors of the products correspond to the colors of the monastic cassocks. By tradition, raisins symbolize Dominicans , hazelnuts - Augustinians , dried figs - Franciscans , almonds - Carmelites .
