Wings is South Korea’s second BTS studio album. It was released on October 10, 2016 via Big Hit Enteratinment. Consists of 15 songs, including the main single, “Blood Sweat & Tears”. Also in the album there are seven songs that were recorded by each member individually [1] [2] .

The album debuted on the main US album chart Billboard 200 , making it the best-selling Korean album, and the first to spend more than one week on the chart [3] [4] . The lead single, Blood Sweat & Tears, was the band's first hit on the Gaon Digital Chart . The album also broke Gaon 's record for best-selling album of the month and year [5] .
Content
Writing and Release
From September 4 to September 13, Big Hit released a series of videos in honor of the upcoming return of the group [6] . Each video contains quotes from the book “Demian” by the German writer Hermann Hesse : “The Beginning” by Chonguk [7] , “Lies” by Jimin [8] , “Stigma” Vee [9] , “First Love” by Suga [10] , “Reflection ” RapMon [11] ,“ Mom ”by J-Hope [12] and“ Awakening ”by Gene [13] . September 25 was released the trailer "Wings: Boy Meets Evil" [14] . Later photos were released in support of the new album [15] , and on October 5 a track list was announced.
On October 9, the participants discussed their solo compositions on the album. Jungkook said his song “Begin” was about moving to Seoul and meeting other band members. Wee described his song "Stigma" as a song in the "neo-soul genre." J-Hope called his song “Mama” unforgettable, and it is about his emotions that he felt for his mother in childhood. “Awake” was Gina’s first experience writing any song lyrics [16] . Rap Monster announces the song “Two! Three! (Still Wishing There Will Be Better Days) ”was the first official song of the fans. On October 20, he also discussed in detail all the songs. He praised the dancing skills of J-Hope in their trailer and Jimin's participation in the writing of “Lie”, and also admitted that “First Love” reminds him how important piano is for Suga [17] .
On October 10, a press conference was held in honor of the release of the new album. A question was asked about the new concept of the group and its meaning, and Rap Monster explained it as “the stronger the temptation to resist, the more you think about it and do not dare. This uncertainty is part of growing up. The song [“Blood Sweat & Tears”] shows how one thinks, chooses and grows ” [18] . The symbolism of the “wings” reflects growing up, and Suga added that “the song reflects a positive definition in order to use our wings and move on even if we encounter difficulties and obstacles in life.”
Music video
On October 6, a teaser for the single “Blood Sweat & Tears” [19] was released . On October 10, at 00:00 Korean time, the official premiere took place [20] .
