Geography
There is no information on the approximate date of the founding of this ancient Greek colony, since there are no written sources reporting this. In the writings of ancient Greek geographers, when describing this region, Kardia is always mentioned, as Skilak of Cariandi in his work “The Periplane of the Inhabited Sea” mentions this colony. And Strabo calls Cardia the largest city on the Chersonesus of Thrace [2] .
History
Initially, the territory of Cardia began to colonize Miletus and Clazomen . However, the settlement became more active during the Miltiada , as he was able to attract immigrants from Athens to this region. Herodotus mentions that the army of the Persian king Xerxes passed through Cardia, on its way to Greece [3] . Cardia was destroyed by Lysimachus, as Pausanias tells us. He writes that precisely for this Lysimachus is so disliked by the historian Jerome from Kardia [4] .
