Biography
After leaving school at the end of 1938 he joined the communist youth movement. During the Second World War he was a member of partisan resistance , a fighter of the People's Liberation Army of Yugoslavia .
After the war ended, until 1949 he studied law at the University of Belgrade . During his studies, he was the head of the Student Committee of the university. He continued his education at the Institute of Social Sciences, after which in 1951 he became an employee of the Institute of History of the Serbian Academy of Sciences .
Then he studied for two years at the Department of History of the Western and Southern Slavs of the History Department of Moscow State University . Since 1955, he passed specialization at the University of Rome . He participated in the X and XI World Congress of Historians.
Since 1973 - lectured at the University of Podgorica .
At the end of 1973 he was elected a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Montenegro , was re-elected for two terms. He was a member of the Central Committee of the Union of Communists of Yugoslavia and worked in the Assembly of Yugoslavia. Chairman of the Justice Committee of the Federal Assembly of the SFRY .
In the late 1980s, he was a visiting professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Montenegro .
In 1954 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the legal history of the Montenegrin state and the creation of state authorities in Montenegro.
From 1973 to 1981, Branko Pavichevich was president of the Society for Science and Art of the Federal Republic of Montenegro and the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts .
Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts . He has also been a permanent member of the Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts (ASAK).
Scientific activity
Author of works on the legal and political history of Montenegro and Serbia from the 18th to the 20th century. In addition, he devoted several works to the history of Russian foreign policy in the 18th and 19th centuries. He prepared a number of critical publications on the history of Montenegro.
