The State Targeted Scientific and Technical Space Program of Ukraine is being implemented in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Space Activity” ( 1996 ), is being developed for 5 years and approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the proposal of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine . Formed by the National Space Agency of Ukraine, together with the relevant central executive authorities and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine , based on the objectives and basic principles of space activities in the country.
Content
Work Directions
On the basis of the national space program of Ukraine are carried out:
- identification of civilian, defense and dual-purpose space technology needs;
- the conclusion of contracts in accordance with applicable law;
- conducting research and production of space technology for the current year, approved by the Government of Ukraine;
- the allocation of funds from the state budget to finance space activities on state orders;
- personnel training at the expense of budget funds and taking measures for the social protection of space objects personnel;
- providing support and improvement of space infrastructure objects of the ground infrastructure, as well as the claimed level of safety of space activities;
- provision of international cooperation in the space sphere, including the participation of Ukraine in international space projects.
On the basis of the national space program of Ukraine for 1998-2002, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada 23.XII 1997, the following tasks were set:
- promoting stable socio-economic development as the main factor in improving the quality of life of citizens of Ukraine;
- development of space science, scientific research of the Earth and outer space;
- ensuring the interests of the state in the field of national security and defense.
Priorities
Priorities are implemented on four target programs:
- space technologies (telecommunications, navigation and remote sensing of the Earth);
- development of space assets;
- use of space tools;
- scientific space research and space activities in the interests of the security and defense of Ukraine.
