Biography

In 1925 he graduated from the State Theater College. A. V. Lunacharsky (class of Vakhtang Mchedelov ), and joined the troupe of the Blue Blouse agitation theater. Then he played in Moscow theaters (Theater of Miniatures, Theater of Observers , Theater of Satire , Music Hall ).

In the cinema - since 1930. More often than others, the actor played pirates, porters, senior citizens and "people of Caucasian nationality." Even the actor’s wordless appearance on the screen made the audience smile.

In the comedy of Grigory Aleksandrov “ Jolly Fellows ” (1934), his hero uttered only one phrase - he admires his wife, who cries at a concert of symphonic music (in fact, she was shook shoes). In the films “ Volga, Volga ” (1938) and “ The First Glove ” (1947), he played fussy photojournalists, in whom the whole gamut of feelings is reflected only on the faces. And in Hearts of Four (1941), he appeared a few seconds before the final and caught up with the train, and also played the role of a man in line at a telephone booth. These shots became a real classic, an encyclopedia of the movie episode, according to which many talented comedians later learned the basics. The same Savely Kramarov ran dozens of times on “Hearts of Four” precisely because of the episode with the actor.

Since the 1950s - in the state of the Theater-Studio of the film actor .

The actor lived a long fruitful life and worked until the last days. He starred in many famous directors, and several times. He was a frequent guest at the satirical newsreel The Wick . A booklet from the series “ Actors of Soviet Cinema ” is dedicated to his work.

In 1974, he was awarded the title Honored Artist of the RSFSR .

He died on May 6, 1990 in Moscow. He was buried at the New Don cemetery .
