Sergey Seleznev was born on February 17, 1975 in the city of Kremenchug, Poltava region . Until 1992, he studied at "HOUOR-1" in Kharkov . The first club was the local Olympic , which played in the transitional league in the 1992/93 season. That season, Seleznev was a key player in the team, played 30 matches and scored 2 goals, then went to Metalist , for which he played from 1994 to 1995. In all tournaments in the Metallista T-shirt he played 53 matches and scored 5 goals.

In 1996 he came to Kiev “ CSKA-Borisfen ”, which then changed its name to CSKA. As part of the Kiev army, he played until 2000. He regularly played as part of the main team. The exception was the 2000/01 season, when Seleznev lost his place at the base and played mainly for the second team of CSKA-2 in the First League . In the same season, Seleznev became the finalist of the Cup of Ukraine , although in the final meeting he did not get into the application for the match [1] . Despite team success, the lack of game practice did not suit Seleznev, so he decided to change the team. As part of the main team in national tournaments, played 64 matches and scored 7 goals. CSKA-2 played 80 games for the team and scored 4 goals. In 2001, he was already a member of Kryvyi Rih Krivbass , was the main player on the team and played 12 matches in the Ukrainian championship .

During the summer offseason, he joined the Premier League club of the Russian Championship Torpedo-ZIL (Moscow), for which he debuted on July 11, 2001 in the home match of the 16th round against Moscow Lokomotiv , leaving the starting lineup [2] . The club played only four matches in the championship [3] . He spent another 9 games in the doubles championship. The next team was Liepāja Metallurg , in the Premier League played only 5 matches, the team at the end of that season became the bronze medalist of the championship.

Trying to get more gaming practice, Seleznev returned to Ukraine in the summer of 2002. His next club was Alexandria Polygraphtekhnika , where he quickly became a key player, but played only one season 2002/03, having 17 matches and scoring 1 goal. During the summer off-season of 2003, he returned to Kharkov, where he signed a contract with Metalist. At the end of the season, the club received the right to return to the Premier League . That season, Seleznev was a key player in the team, played 34 matches in the national championship and scored 9 goals, and played another match in the Ukrainian Cup. The next season, he played 24 games in the Ukrainian Championship (4 goals), and played one more match in the Ukrainian Cup and the doubles championship. In 2005, he moved to another local Kharkov club, but he did not play a single match in the Ukrainian championship. As part of the main team, he played only one match - in the Ukrainian Cup against the Education club. In the championship doubles roared 14 matches. Dissatisfied with this state of affairs already during the winter break, Seleznev moved to Uzhgorod " Transcarpathia ", in which he spent the rest of the season.

In the summer of 2006, he left Ukraine for the second time and moved to the Azerbaijani freshman of the Premier League " Simurg ", in addition, the team was then headed by Ukrainian specialist Roman Pokora . In the 2006/07 season, he played 18 matches, scoring 3 goals. But at the end of the season he returned to Ukraine.

The last club in his career was the Cherkasy " Dnepr ", which he played in 2007-2009.
