Baqa al-Gharbiya ( Arabic. باقة الغربية , Hebrew באקה אל-גרבייה ) is an Arab city (since 1996 ) in the Haifa District of Israel . In 2003, Baqa al-Gharbiya was merged with the local Council of Jat in one city: " Baka-Jat ." On November 1, 2010, the merger was canceled and the city of Baka Jat was again divided into the city of Baka el Garbia and the local council of Jat .

History
Early History
During archaeological excavations in the territory of Baq al-Gharbiya, many quarries and olive presses dating to the Hellenistic or early Roman period were found. Ceramic objects of the late Roman and early Byzantine periods, as well as a cave with the remains of burials dating back to the Byzantine and Umayyad periods (VI-VII centuries AD) were also found.
Middle Ages
The earliest mention of Baqa al-Gharbiya dates back to the 12th century. In 1265, Beibars I divided the village of Baka between Alam al-Din al-Zahri and Aladdin at-Tankazi when dividing the villages of Palestine between local fighters with the Crusaders and the Byzantines.

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Israel , the population at the beginning of 2018 was 29,035 people [1] .
Economics
Baka el Garbia is considered a major commercial and industrial center for all villages and kibbutzim. In Baka al-Gharbiya there are more than 400 industries in various areas of the economy. Industrial zones make up 8.5% of the city’s area.
